The other night I watched a television show on which a beautiful young bride-to-be decided to have a pajama party instead of a bridal shower, no doubt demonstrating, yet again, how charming and original she is.

Since she was a princess, naturally the bridal shower was an all-princess affair. This meant that most of the guests were less than 20 years old, and a lot of them under 12.

The major activity of the party was mattress surfing, accompanied by rock music. Amazingly a big, aluminum slide had appeared in the princess’s bedroom, which was the size of an airplane hanger.

But the highlight was when the Queen walked in, jumped on a mattress, and “hung ten” while surfing down the slide.

OK – it may not be PBS, but at least it’s not reality T.V.
