4 Things that Help Your Credit Score

Things That Help Your Credit ScoreIf you’ve been recently turned down for a mortgage, auto, personal, or department store loan due to having a poor credit score, you can relate to people who are in real pain due to their credit situations.Unfortunately, there are a lot of myths and general misinformation about credit scores out there. Of course, credit card and other lending companies themselves are not going to be your biggest ally in helping you find out what you need to know. After all, they benefit when you understand less, not more (sad, but true). But, what really hurts your credit score, and what can help you improve your score? Here are some of the biggest things that help your credit score that you should know about:1. Believe it or not, you should not go out and cancel all of your credit cards. Having credit cards and remaining in good standing with your payments is much better for your credit than having no cards at all.2. Do not charge too much on your cards. Ideally, you should try to keep your balance paid off every month. If not, then at least make sure that your balance on any one card is below half of your credit limit for that card.3. Pay your bills on time each month. This many seem obvious, but it is so important.4. Check your credit reports regularly to make sure they do not contain errors that could be adversely affecting your score.Follow these guidelines as your first step toward improving your credit score.
