When the position of physician’s assistant first came out, I wondered what the requirments of a phyicians assistant were and why anyone would want to become an assistant instead of the physician. From my point of view, I was thinking I would much rather be my own boss, get paid more and call all of the shots. Of course, once I looked into the requirements, I noticed that the physicians need to have more education, carry more malpractice insurance and put in many long hours not to mention being on call for all of the holidays and weekends. Now I see the logic!
