Petzl Gri-Gri: A Useful Mountain Climbing Gear

A Gri-gri is a proprietary Mountain Climbing Gear developed by Petzl. It is a belay device which automatically locks in case of a fall through its active camming device. When a climber falls, the camming device locks off the rope automatically to catch the falling climber. The Gri-gri however is not able to catch and hold a weight or force around 9 kN. Because of the technology of Gri-gri, climbers oftentimes become less careful. But climbers should remember that there is a possibility of reverse threading the rope with the GriGri. In reverse threading, the GriGri is threaded the wrong way, disabling the purpose of the camming action.
