Call Of Duty: World At War Beta Not Coming To PlayStation 3

Perhaps this won’t bother you, especially considering how many PlayStation 3 betas loom large on the horizon. Testing for LittleBigPlanet begins this week, Resistance 2 should start next week, and the Killzone 2 beta should kick off before the end of the year. But if you’re hoping for an early look at Call of Duty: World at War, you’re out of luck.

Earlier, PS3 News had noticed that when Treyarch and Activision announced the upcoming beta test for World at War, the PS3 wasn’t mentioned. At the time, we couldn’t confirm the meaning of this exclusion; will the beta come to the PS3 later, or is it not coming at all? Sadly, according to PSU, it’s the latter. “We are running the beta only on the Xbox 360 and PC,” said an Activision representative, and apparently, the reason for this is “primarily due to increased server and connectivity data.” …we’re not entirely sure this excuse holds any water, but either way, it’s bound to annoy more than a few PS3 owners. Of course, if they know their history, they shouldn’t be all that surprised: Infinity Ward didn’t bring the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare beta to the PS3, either. We had hoped, however, that with a year gone by and Sony’s machine more popular than ever, that Activision would’ve taken the appropriate steps.

So no Call of Duty: World at War beta test for the PS3, but like we said earlier, there are plenty of other betas to try and enjoy. Ain’t a single one coming to any other console but the PS3, too, so that’s good consolation.
