Grandiose as the plan to turn an old airfield into something we can all have a place to rent in, it’s a tremendous effort at making an old face look totally new – with no remnant at what it used to be. Who would have thought that the former Stapleton International Airport would become the home of hundreds of lodgers today in a matter of a few years? Starting 2001, the site where Stapleton International Airport stood now has been reinvented into a planned community that is quite unique for the state of Colorado when compared with most urban developments in the recent years. Why? The Stapleton Colorado community was planned to become an urban development site that is pedestrian-oriented rather than automobile-oriented – a design uncommon among many other planned developments. The Stapleton area is slated to become grounds for the "green plan," a world-recognized outline for a sustainable community – as a matter of fact, nearly one-third of the former airport site had been slated for redevelopment as public park space.
